Health and Safety

We have regular visits from the Community Police Officer to deliver a programme of study developed by the Thames Valley Police. It seeks to make children aware of dangers around them and to foster a sense of responsibility as members of the community. Road safety training and cycling proficiency are also covered.

All children receive a medical examination before entering school. If a parent or teacher feels that an additional examination would be helpful, this may be arranged with the school nurse.

Routine eye checks are carried out by the school nurse.

Foundation Stage and Year 6 children are included in the National Data Collection for height and weight.  These checks are carried out by the school nurse.

Please note that the children should not wear jewellery or earrings to school. Sleepers may be worn but all children wearing them must be capable of removing them for PE lessons.

Staff are not permitted to administer medication to children unless authorised by parents to do so. An authority form must be obtained and completed and returned to school. Children on inhalers should be able to use them on their own.

A full Health and Safety policy is available for viewing in school.
